The idea of being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature can already give a sense of calmness. Even studies have showed that occasional visits to nature spaces reduces anger, anxiety and stress.
Well, what more if you get to stay overnight in a resort that’s set-up in a real forest setting, deep in the woods, disconnected from the busy city lights and noises, and even phone connections – with all that sooths your ears are the flowing streams, waterfalls, and the song of the forest.
Sekeping Serendah is located in the state of Selangor (Malaysia), in an indigenous (Orang Asli) community village. Located in the middle of a forest, the very transparent and open sheds give a beautiful connection to the beauty of the natural environment surrounding them. All the sheds in this facility are intentionally kept basic and free from lavishness.
During day time, we spend time at the nearby waterfall, whether taking a challenging dip in the cold water right at the falls, or a relaxing dip upstream in the slow-moving waters. I usually go for a short forest trek along the stream upwards, with my camera, taking pictures of the rainforest.
For those who wants to have a more relaxed time right around the sheds, can choose to go to the swimming pool in the garden. You can even choose to spread open your yoga met and get on your healing journey.
Evenings can be very pleasant, with cool breeze and all you have it the aura of the forest to keep you and your company cozy. We usually have a barbeque session, chatting the night away.
I definitely can’t wait to get back to this nature retreat, not to mention a nature healing journey of my own.
